Research

I believe that research and development are central to progress. Having lectured in Oxford University and Trinity College Dublin, and with my research papers appearing in many elite journals; which include the Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, American Journal Of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, American Journal of Roentgenology and Fertility Sterility) - I am committed to research and education.

I present at national and international medical conferences and train and teach our medical students and junior doctors.

Something Personal

I am married to Fiona, and we have five fantastic children, four girls and a boy. Work for me is a joy- not a job! I live in Dublin, hail from Kildare, and Cork and Galway are in the genes too!

I enjoy golf and general fitness and am an avid rugby supporter. Above all, I enjoy spending time with my family.

In the Media

“Being pregnant at 40 is no big deal. I'm in the Coombe with Dr. Hugh O'Connor, who is like a god to me, and I'm the average age of his patients, if not one of the younger ones waiting on the corridor.”

— Lucy Kennedy featured in the Irish Independent

“Asking her consultant for advice on exercising for women, Dr Hugh O’Connor in the Coombe, said: ‘Do something you like doing. If you like walking, go for a walk. And your yoga, pilates, I’d really encourage those things.’ ”

— Kathryn Thomas featured on Operation Transformation
